iAgeHealth is an innovative virtual workforce solution designed to target unmet clinical care requirements. PainChek® is a key component of the iAgeHealth platform, enabling best-practice pain assessment for Australians in regional, rural, and remote aged care.

Developed by McLean Care in collaboration with specialists at Deakin University, iAgeHealth is a clinical and technological solution designed to address workforce shortages and enable virtual in-room clinical, allied health, and diagnostic services for older Australians in regional, rural, and remote communities.

The iAgeHealth service gives facilities 24-hour access to clinical and allied health specialists to assess, diagnose, and treat in real time, including Nurse Practitioners, Registered Nurses, Physiotherapists, Occupational Therapists, and Dieticians with specialisations including wound care, pain management, diabetes management, and dementia care.

Features and benefits:

  • 24/7 virtual multi-disciplinary health hub
  • Round-the-clock access to clinicians and diagnostics
  • Personalised and tailored treatment plans
  • Simple and fast implementation
  • Easy integration with existing systems
  • Simple, intuitive interface
  • Limited system training required

McLean Care Chief Executive Officer, Sue Thomson, says that iAgeHealth will impact clinical assessment and treatment levels in regional, rural, and remote areas, ultimately improving health care outcomes.

“Older persons should have access to care and services they need to keep well, regardless of their geographical location,” Ms Thomson said.

“One in three Australians live in regional, rural, and remote communities and have poorer access to health services, poorer health outcomes, higher levels of disease and lower rates of life expectancy. A big reason behind these outcomes is the inequity of services available. Older people living in rural and remote communities simply don’t have the same access to clinical care because of their location.”

“Those living in rural and remote areas will understand how far the distances they have to travel to access healthcare can be. For example, we regularly hear reports from within the aged care industry that older people in residential aged care can wait more than two weeks to see a physiotherapist. With this new technology, a remote physio can assess and treat older people within 24 hours, particularly in urgent cases such as after a fall.”

PainChek®’s integration with iAgeHealth allows care providers to access PainChek®’s digital pain assessment technology through iAgeHealth, enabling them to deliver best-practice pain assessment for patients and residents, including those who are unable to reliably communicate their pain.
